Guardian of the Lagoon

San Diego County is host to over 515 bird species, more than any other county in the United States (SanDiego.org). Our water birds are integral to the delicate ecosystem of beautiful lagoons formed along our coastline, which increase tidal circulation. I wanted to pay tribute to this majestic bird and the beautiful surroundings he watches over.

<p>Tricia McMaster is a writer and former teacher at UC San Diego, and has just recently taken up painting. She is inspired by her lush surroundings in Fallbrook with its blend of native and exotic vegetation. When she is not immersed in colors and brushes, Tricia travels and camps with her partner Keith, always looking for unusual colors and textures in nature.</p>
